Nowadays the problem of studying (ethno)religious conversion and reconversion is becoming relevant due to changing role of the religious factor in the modern societies. If previously, religion was associated with maintaining the stability of the social order or, on the contrary, with negative factors such as social or ethnic conflicts, now its functions vary depending on the context, and it plays a significant role in social development. At the background of active migration processes, the movement of world religions and religious movements in the global space has led to a significant diversification of forms of religiosity and a widespread intensification of the processes of religious conversion and reconversion. The very process of joining other religious movements and foreign cultural religions, which are not autochthonous for certain geographical areas and people from them, is the phenomenon of religious conversion. This phenomenon is currently intensively studied in modern humanities, but the reverse process of returning to the original (ethno)religious tradition is practically poorly understood. In modern conditions, studying such mechanisms and the dynamics of social processes in modern countries and among ethnic groups with diasporas significantly expands research and analytical capabilities. The aim of this work is to identify features of the study of (ethnoreligious) conversion, guided by methods used by the Indian, Turkish and Irish diaspora in the formation, strengthening and activation of (ethnic religious) conversion among representatives of these ethnicities.

Key words: (ethno)religious identity, (ethno)religious reconversion, the mechanisms of reconversion, globalisation, Indian diaspora, Turkish diaspora, Irish diaspora
