The article attempts to explore the phenomenological approach to the study of miracles presented in Mircea Eliade’s works. The author notes the connection between modern researchers’ approaches to understanding the phenomenon of miracle and interdisciplinarity with M. Eliade’s ideas. The research reveals the topic of the miraculous in the literary heritage of M. Eliade, which contributes to a deeper analysis of miracle and religious experience phenomena in Eliade’s phenomenology of religion. The article states that, in M. Eliade’s phenomenology, the concept of “miracle” correlates with the concept of “hierophany” in the interpretation of religious experience: any encounter with a hierophany is perceived as a miracle. Also, the article examines M. Eliade’s view on the significance of studying narratives and the role of mythical elements in understanding the phenomenon of miracle. The article investigates M. Eliade’s hermeneutics of miracle, emphasizing the role of imagination in comprehending the sacred and authentic interpretation based on empathy for cultural manifestations. All this confirms the thesis that the phenomenon of miracles is a significant element of religious experience for Eliade, which, according to Eliade’s logic, implies the need for a researcher of miraculous phenomena to have personal religious experience and religious education in order to understand them. M. Eliade’s statement on the importance of ancient spiritual traditions is noted, which contributes to the search for meaning and transcendence in modern life. In conclusion, it is emphasized that just as a miracle cannot be understood outside the context of religious experience, religious experience cannot be fully understood without understanding miracles, which are its essential component.
