The existence of man and humanity is multidimensional. People have populated the entire habitable planet and created the ecumene – the geographical space developed by humanity. As evolution progressed, the anthroposphere emerged – humanity in its entirety and the totality of everything it has produced or modified. The anthroposphere includes the sociosphere, technosphere and other cultural systems. One of these cultural systems is the religiosphere. In the complex system of spatial organization of the anthroposphere, the religiosphere is a sub-system within the structure of anthroposphere. The religiosphere is a set of religions coexisting in geographical space in all the diversity of their objectified forms (religious communities, institutions, places of worship, etc.). Religion, in its objectified forms, is one of the components that form the complex composition of the earth’s geographic shell. In geographic space, religion exists as religious landscapes. Religious landscape is a configuration of religious space under specific natural and social conditions for the existence of religion. It is a spatial arrangement of religious objects, including physical and symbolic elements that form multidimensional syntheses of reality and imagination. Sacred landscape is a specific type of religious landscape, differing from others in its mental mode of existence, semiotics, axiological status, and functions. The presence of sacred landscapes in the structure of religious landscapes distinguishes them from other landscapes of the anthroposphere. Human consciousness is capable of creating imaginary realities. The article examines cognitive actions underlying the creation of such imaginary worlds.

Key words: anthroposphere, sociosphere, religiosphere, religious landscape, sacred landscape, frontier, imaginary reality
