The aim of the research is to study the symbolic system of number seven, that has fascinated humanity for centuries, in the Armenian epic “Daredevils of Sassoun” by relying on folklore on one hand and Christian perceptions on the other hand, since the epic mixes the totemic and mythological, pagan and Christian features. The numbers contain both deep layers of national consciousness and mentality, as well as, mythological and religious roots. By examining the symbolic meaning of the “mysterious” number seven, which is found in almost all spheres of existence in the history of mankind and reveals the spheres of human self-knowledge, we get the opportunity to reveal the comprehensive system of both national and global mentality and turn to Christian ideas about number seven that have existed for centuries.
